Research, development and innovation (RDI) projects from private companies legally registered in Luxembourg can benefit from several National aid schemes and measures.
Law of 5 June 2009 relating to the promotion of research, development and innovation
The law of 5 June 2009 relating to the promotion of research, development and innovation
extends the possibilities for financial
support to companies who launch innovation activities.
Table of aid intensities under the new schemes and measures
The law allows the granting of specific RDI support according to the following aid schemes and measures:
An innovation and R&D support scheme for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses
aims to support such companies in their innovation activities.
Medium and long-term loans
can be granted to industrial enterprises and service-providing companies by the Société Nationale de Crédit et d'Investissement (SNCI).
Public aid for the promotion of eco-technologies and sustainable development in companies: how to stimulate “green growth”
Fighting climate change, improving energy efficiency, promoting the production of renewable energies and generally reducing the environmental footprint constitute real opportunities to stimulate green growth. The law of 18 February 2010 on aid schemes for environmental protection and for the rational use of natural resources
shows the will of the government to offer the possibility of financial support to companies that implement an effective environmental and energy policy (an increase in the amount of aid to SMEs is foreseen).
The aim of investments that can benefit from these aids is to improve environmental protection, to adapt to future Community standards, to make energy savings, to install high-efficiency cogeneration or to produce energy from renewable energy sources.
One particularly noteworthy measure allows for the co-financing of environmental studies.
